Zakaki pool is probably the best place for wildfowl in the west of Cyprus
All the sites in this section are treated, in detail and with precise maps and directions, in my book ‘Finding Birds in Southern Cyprus’
If you have any information which you feel would help to update the book, please email me at dave@easybirder.co.uk and I’ll add your observations to these pages

Zakaki pool
Wednesday, 24 August 2011
An extensive wetland area, especially important for wildfowl including Ferruginous Duck
Scan into the reeds for birds such as Moustached Warbler, Little Crake and Little Bittern
The only way to view the site is to scan from the rather busy road
The road behind Ladies Mile Beach takes you along the eastern edge of Akrotiri salt lake, passing roadside pools that can be terrific for waders. Limassol is in the background. Behind the cyclists are the cranes of the port area next to Zakaki pool.
