This lagoon isn’t strictly part of the Brazo del Este but is easily reached from there via the town of Los Palacios. It is sometimes known as Laguna de Mejorada or the Laguna de Diego Puertas. It has herons, wildfowl and waxbills but its main claim to fame is as a reliable site for Western Olivaceous Warbler (several pairs breed here).
All the sites in this section are treated, in detail and with precise maps and directions, in my book ‘Finding Birds in Andalucia’
If you have any information which you feel would help to update the book, please email me at dave@easybirder.co.uk and I’ll add your observations to these pages
